Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires revenge.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on October 24.
